Prior to the first year of the M.S.C.R. Program, a Practical Skill Workshop Series is offered during the summer. This series is designed to help trainees begin work on their mentored projects. Topics covered include:
- Introduction to clinical research
 - Obtaining research support and grant funding mechanisms
 - Proposal development
 - Study designs
 - Analysis of secondary data
 - Cultural competency
 - Career development
 - Human subject advocacy
 - Introduction to medical informatics
 
Minimum Semester Credit Hours Required for Graduation: 36
- Core Courses: 24 hours
 - Mentored Research Project: 12 hours
 
Program Phases
The program is implemented in two phases:
- Phase I includes a rigorous didactic methodological curriculum and training that leads to a M.S.C.R. degree.
 - Phase II provides mentored career development to successful CRECD Phase I and other qualified scholars.
